The Role

We are looking for enthusiastic and customer-focused individuals to join our team as a Library Assistant. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality library services, supporting customers, and helping create an inclusive and engaging environment.

Work Hours: 7 hours per week, every Saturday 9am to 5pm (1 hour unpaid lunch break)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service, supporting a wide range of library users
• Assist customers with enquiries, including locating resources and accessing digital services
• Support the delivery of library activities, events, and community programmes
• Issue and return library materials using library management systems
• Promote OneRen services, memberships, and digital resources
• Maintain a welcoming, organised, and safe library environment
• Support stock management, including shelving, displays, and general upkeep of materials
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure smooth day-to-day operations

What We’re Looking For

• A friendly, approachable manner with a strong customer focus
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Confidence using IT systems and supporting digital access for customers
• Ability to work as part of a team and independently when required
• Organised with good attention to detail
• Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings and weekends
• Previous experience in a customer service or library environment is desirable but not essential
